Introduction

Anxiety rarely announces itself as a rival to God. It arrives quietly, disguised as responsibility, wisdom, or caution. It presents itself as care, preparation, and awareness. Yet beneath the surface, anxiety demands what only God deserves, trust, attention, obedience, and sacrifice.

What we serve is revealed by what governs us. Anxiety governs thoughts, shapes decisions, interrupts rest and defines identity. It predicts outcomes, rehearses worst case scenarios, and punishes those who do not comply.

Over time, anxiety does not merely influence life; it rules it.

Scripture consistently reveals that anything trusted above God becomes a god. Anxiety functions this way. It speaks with authority, claims knowledge of the future, and demands constant engagement. It promises safety but delivers bondage.

The gospel does not merely soothe anxiety. It exposes it. And what is
exposed can be dethroned.
