A few years ago, a man told me, “I don’t need Jesus. I’m a good person. I take care of my family. I don’t hurt anyone.”
He truly believed that being “good” was enough.
But when life fell a part, when sickness hit his body, and fear filled his mind - all the goodness in the world couldn’t give him peace.
That’s when he asked the question most people avoid:
“If I die, how do I really know where I’m going?”
The truth is, many people ask that question quietly in their hearts.
They may not say it out loud, but deep down they wrestle with the same uncertainty: What if being good isn’t enough?
Jesus died for the sins of the world - past, present, and future.
Yet even with that truth proclaimed for over two thousand years, many still don’t believe in Him.
Some think they can live good enough lives to earn salvation.
Others believe all religions lead to the same God.
But that thinking denies the greatest truth in history: there will never be another sacrifice for sin.
When Jesus gave His life on the cross, He became the final sacrifice the full and perfect payment for every sin humanity has ever committed.
No one else could do it. No one else ever will.
He alone was pure, sinless, and able to stand in the gap between God and man.
Why Many Don’t Believe
Unbelief has always been humanity’s greatest barrier.
Even in Jesus’ day, people saw His miracles yet still refused to believe.
It wasn’t because they didn’t see power - it was because they didn’t recognize who He truly was.
John 3:16–18 (NKJV)
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son,
that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
The problem isn’t that God stopped loving, it’s that many stopped believing.
Jesus didn’t come to condemn; He came to save.
But salvation can’t be received without faith.
The Root of Sin
John 16:8–9 (NKJV)
And when He (the Holy Spirit) has come,
He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me.
According to Jesus, the core of sin is unbelief.
It’s not just doing wrong - it’s refusing to believe the One who made things right.
That’s why the Holy Spirit still works today, not to condemn the world, but to awaken hearts to truth:
You cannot fix yourself, only Christ can make you new.
The Power of the Cross
When Jesus died, He fulfilled every requirement of God’s justice.
He paid what no man could pay.
That’s why salvation isn’t about performance it’s about acceptance.
Titus 3:5 (NKJV)
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to His mercy He saved us…
John 14:6 (NKJV)
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Humanity will never find another way, another religion, or another person who can atone for sin.
There will never be another sacrifice for sin - whether dead or alive.
Jesus is the only bridge between man and God.
A New Creation
2 Corinthians 5:17–18 (NKJV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.
Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ…
When you believe in Jesus, you don’t become religious, you become reborn.
Your past no longer defines you, and your failures no longer control you.
Faith in Christ doesn’t just forgive, it transforms.
The Final Truth
Salvation isn’t about how good you are, it’s about how good He is.
No one can behave their way into heaven. Faith alone opens the door to eternal life.
Jesus is still the only way.
His love is still enough.
And His sacrifice still stands as the greatest act of grace the world has ever known.
A Simple Prayer to Believe
Lord Jesus,
I believe You are the Son of God.
I believe You died for my sins and rose again.
Forgive me for my unbelief.
Come into my heart and make me new. Today, I place my faith in You alone.
Amen.
