Why Loyalty Is So Important

Loyalty is one of the most powerful qualities a person can possess. Yet true loyalty is often misunderstood.

Loyalty is not dictatorship.
Loyalty is not manipulation.
Loyalty is not isolation.

Real loyalty cannot be forced, controlled, or demanded through fear. It is built through character, consistency, trust, sacrifice, and genuine love.

One thing I have learned throughout the years is this:

You can never consistently attract something that you truly are not.

If you are not loyal, you will struggle to attract loyalty.
If you are not trustworthy, trust will be difficult to sustain around you.
If you are not genuine, genuine relationships will remain rare.

Loyalty Begins in the Heart

The world often focuses on image, but God focuses on the heart.

In 1 Samuel 16:7, scripture reminds us that man looks on the outward appearance, but the Lord looks on the heart.

Loyalty begins inwardly before it is ever seen outwardly. It is who you are when there is no applause, no reward, and no spotlight.

A Culture of Love, Not Clout

Years ago, a man spent several years in prison for murder. When he was released, our Christian Outreach Center family was excited to be there for him.

The first thing we did as a community was bring him to the front of the church and treat him like royalty. We blessed him with love, hugs, encouragement, and a generous offering.

He later decided to attend CDL school. Our church community supported him again, and he finished school. He eventually went on to drive for a successful businessman in Midland, Texas.

We did not do that for clout.
We did not do it for image.
We did not do it for recognition.

We did it because we love God and we love people.

Galatians 6:9 teaches us not to grow weary in doing good, because in due season we will reap if we do not give up.

Genuine people love to see other people win.

Loyalty Helps Build Futures

I remember another story of a young man we mentored from Chicago. We helped him transition to Texas. He stayed focused, graduated, earned his bachelor’s degree, then went on to earn his master’s degree.

Today, he owns his own business and has an incredible career earning six figures.

What makes that story powerful is that many odds were stacked against him. His environment could have defined him. His background could have limited him. But he chose another path.

Loyalty is earned through integrity, consistency, and sincere care.

When you help others without ulterior motives, people often respect not only what you do but who you are.

Proverbs 22:1 says a good name is to be chosen rather than great riches.

The Legacy of Johnny King

My father, Johnny King the founder of Christian Outreach Center was raised by a single mother alongside one sister.

His father lived deeply in the street life. My grandfather, whom I never met, never gave my father the kind of love and support a child needed. My dad remembered receiving only a pair of used cowboy boots.

He grew up in poverty, but he made a decision:

He would become a different man.

Though the odds were stacked against him, God brought people into his life who ministered to him, encouraged him, and showed him another way.

He married my mother, gave his life to the Lord, and became the best father I could have ever asked for.

He was my hero.

In his late twenties, he began giving paper towels, toilet tissue, soap, and practical help to the homeless. What was in his heart became action through his hands.

That love and loyalty eventually grew into a culture called Christian Outreach Center in June 1978.

I am simply a chip off the block.

God used my father to show our church family how to love people without negative judgment, bias, or personal gain.

That is why Love, Kindness, Leadership, and Connection is not only what we do it is who we are.

Luke 6:38 teaches that when we give, it comes back in multiplied ways.
Acts 20:35 says it is more blessed to give than to receive.

Loyalty Leaves a Legacy

After my father passed in November 2001, it was one of the hardest seasons of my life. Watching my hero go to heaven was painful.

But what brought me comfort was hearing story after story from people whose lives he had touched.

One day I was in the bank, and a young man kept staring at me. Finally he asked, “Are you Johnny King’s son?”

I said, “Yes, I am guilty.”

He said, “Your father was an incredible man. He sent me money for years while I was in prison. I will never forget him.”

Then he asked me to wait. He walked to the teller, returned with a cashier’s check, and made it payable to Christian Outreach Center

That moment reminded me of something powerful:

What you sow into people does not die when you leave the earth.

Love keeps speaking.
Kindness keeps multiplying.
Loyalty keeps bearing fruit.

John 13:35 says that people will know we belong to Christ by our love for one another.

What Loyalty Really Is

Loyalty is staying true when it is easier to walk away.
Loyalty is serving when there is no spotlight.
Loyalty is helping when there is nothing to gain.
Loyalty is honoring what helped shape your life.
Loyalty is consistency over time.
Loyalty is love with backbone.

Final Thought

The world is full of transactions.
But heaven still honors transformation.

At Christian Outreach Center we are amazed by what God is doing in all of us.

All the glory belongs to God.

We are only vessels He chooses to work through.

So be loyal.
Be genuine.
Serve people.
Honor your roots.
Love deeply.
And remember:

A life poured into others can outlive generations.
