When Love Becomes the Foundation, Light Fills the Heart

Many people desire wisdom, direction, clarity, and purpose. They want to understand what God is doing in their lives and where He is leading them. But often, the doorway to spiritual sight is not found in striving harder it is found in love.

When love becomes the foundation and the model of our lives, the eyes of our heart begin to flood with light.

The Prayer for Enlightened Eyes

In Ephesians 1:17–19, Paul the Apostle prays that believers would receive the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of God, and that the eyes of their understanding would be enlightened.

This means God does not only want us educated. He wants us illuminated.

There are things the natural mind cannot fully grasp until the heart is touched by divine light.

Love Is the Deep Root of Revelation

Later in Ephesians 3, Paul prays that believers would be strengthened in the inner man, that Christ would dwell in their hearts by faith, and that they would be rooted and grounded in love.

Then he says something powerful: to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge.

Love is deeper than information. Love is greater than intellect. Love is one of the highest revelations in the kingdom of God.

The more we truly know Jesus Christ the more His love grows within us.

When Love Becomes Tangible

There was a man who had not been to church in 45 years. Life had taken many turns, and somewhere along the way he became disconnected from faith, hope, and community.

He and his girlfriend eventually found themselves homeless, living in their car, carrying burdens most people could never see.

Then the COC Community showed up.

Not with judgment.
Not with criticism.
Not with questions about how they got there.

They showed up with love.
They showed up with kindness.
They showed up with compassion.

In that moment, Jesus Christ became tangible.

Not as a theory.
Not as religion.
Not as a distant idea.

But through people who cared enough to help.

Sometimes the greatest sermon is not preached from a pulpit. Sometimes it is demonstrated in a parking lot beside a car through acts of mercy and love.

What Happens When Love Is the Foundation

1. The Heart Gains Vision

Fear clouds judgment. Bitterness blinds perspective. Pride distorts reality. But love clears the lens of the heart.

2. Strength Rises Within

Paul connects inner strength with being rooted in love. Love creates endurance, patience, and stability.

3. Purpose Becomes Clearer

The enlightened heart begins to understand the hope of God’s calling and the path He has prepared.

4. Christ Becomes Visible Through Us

When we love people well, we reveal the nature of Christ to a world longing for something real.

Final Thought

If you desire wisdom, pursue Christ.
If you pursue Christ, you will encounter His love.
And when His love becomes your foundation, the eyes of your heart will be flooded with light.

Love is not a side lesson of the Christian life. Love is the environment where light grows and where Christ becomes visible to the world.
