Many people wrestle with faith. I get it. Questions are normal. This is a simple way to think about God, why Jesus matters, and how we can approach a holy God without fear.
One God. Holy Light.
Scripture says God “dwells in unapproachable light” (1 Timothy 6:16, NKJV). That means He is perfectly holy. Pure. Different from us in every way. We don’t climb up to Him with our effort. We need Him to come near to us.
Simple picture: The sun gives life, but you cannot stare at it without protection. God’s holiness is like that. Beautiful. Powerful. Too pure for us to handle on our own.
Why Jesus? The Bridge We Need
There is one God. We agree on that.
There is also one Mediator who brings us to God: “the Man Christ Jesus” (1 Timothy 2:5, NKJV). Jesus is not one path among many. He is the Way God provided.
Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life” (John 14:6, NKJV).
If God is holy light, Jesus is the covering and the path that lets us come close without being destroyed by that holiness. He took our sin at the cross. He rose again. He brings us to the Father.
Not Forcing Faith - Offering Hope
Faith should never feel like a fight. I respect people’s choices. I also believe truth is an act of love. So I share this gently: forgiveness is not earned. It is received by trusting Jesus.
If you are unsure, you can take one honest step: “God, if You are real, lead me to truth.” He is not afraid of your questions.
If You’re Skeptical, Consider This
- Revelation: If there is one God, we receive how He chooses to reveal Himself. Christians believe He revealed Himself in Jesus.
- Mediation: A holy God and a sinful people require a Mediator. Jesus stands in that gap.
- Salvation: We do not climb to God. God came to us in Christ.
What Scripture Actually Says:
Short, clear anchors you can read in a minute (NKJV):
- 1 Timothy 6:16 — God “dwells in unapproachable light.”
- John 14:6 - Jesus: “I am the way, the truth, and the life.”
- 1 Timothy 2:5 - “There is one God and one Mediator… the Man Christ Jesus.”
- Acts 4:12 - “Nor is there salvation in any other… no other name.”
- John 3:16–18 - God loved the world and gave His Son; believing brings life.
- Hebrews 1:3 - The Son is the express image of God’s nature.
- Colossians 1:19–20 - In Jesus “all the fullness” dwells; through Him, God reconciles us.
“Are There Seven Bibles?”
There is one Christian Bible, but there are different translations (NKJV, ESV, NIV, etc.) and slightly different book collections by tradition:
- Protestant: 66 books
- Catholic: 73 books (includes the Deuterocanon)
- Orthodox: a few additional texts depending on branch
Same core message: salvation through Jesus Christ.
A Simple Prayer
Father, You are holy and full of light. Thank You for sending Jesus to make a way for us. Open my eyes to truth. Soften my heart. Help me trust You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
