A Bible Study "Blog" on Authority, Desire, and Transformation..
God created humanity with a powerful gift:
"The Will"
The will is the agency of dominion the place where heaven and earth intersect through human choice.
Every system competes for the will.
Whoever governs desire governs direction.
Whoever governs direction governs destiny.
whatever governs focus governs identity
Scripture reveals a constant tension between dominion and deception, transformation and conformity, authority and enslavement.
1. Dominion Is Authority, Not Ownership
Genesis 1:26
God gave man dominion permission to govern environment, not people.
He delegated authority to humanity to steward creation, shape outcomes, and manage systems.
God does not control the earth for man.
He governs through man.
Genesis 4:7 (KJV)
“…sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him.”
Why this verse is powerful
- Sin has desire → it wants mastery
- You are called to rule → dominion is your responsibility
- This is about governance, not weakness
God tells Cain before the act that:
- Desire seeks control
- But the will has authority
Dominion functions through the will.
2. Binding and Loosing: The Law of Permission
Matthew 18:18
In the Greek:
- Bind = to restrict, forbid
- Loose = to allow, permit
This establishes a spiritual law:
Heaven responds to what humans allow or restrict in alignment with God.
God honors human will.
What you allow gains access.
What you restrict loses influence.
3. The World Is a System
Romans 12:2
The “world” is not the planet it is a system of thinking and operation designed to:
- Shape desire
- Normalize conformity
- Enslave the mind
This is the matrix: a system that rewards compliance and punishes independent thought.
4. The Three Gateways to the Soul
1 John 2:16
“All that is in the world” enters through:
- Lust of the flesh – appetite, impulse
- Lust of the eyes – luxury, appearance
- Pride of life – status, identity
These are not just temptations they are gateways.
Luxury is not neutral.
Unmanaged desire gives the system permission.
If we win internally, we dominate the system.
If we lose internally, the system dominates us.
5. Faith Must Be Mixed
Hebrews 4:2
The Word alone does not profit.
Faith must be mixed believed, acted upon, embodied.
Information without alignment produces no transformation.
6. Dominion Starts With the Body
Romans 12:1
Before you master systems, you must master self.
Three areas must be governed:
- Food (appetite)
- Money (resources)
- Sex / desire (impulse and intimacy)
When the body controls the will, dominion is lost. When the will governs the body, authority is restored.
7. Eve, Jesus, and the System
Genesis 3 – Eve was not forced.
She was persuaded through:
- What she saw
- What she desired
- What she wanted to become
Matthew 4 – Jesus faced the same three gateways:
- Bread (flesh)
- Kingdoms (eyes)
- Power (pride)
Eve permitted the system.
Jesus refused permission.
Dominion was never about strength it was about alignment.
8. The Rich Young Ruler: When Possessions Become a God
Jesus told the rich young ruler to sell all he had not because wealth is evil, but because his inner worth was attached to his outer worth.
Possessions had become identity.
Security had replaced trust.
Things had become his god.
Jesus said:
You cannot serve God and mammon.
Mammon is not money it is dependence on material systems for identity and security.
9. Why Detachment Is Sometimes Required
For many believers, prayer alone does not break the code.
Some must:
- Sell expensive things
- Downsize intentionally
- Walk away from titles
- Release environments that reinforce false identity
Not because these things are sinful but because they have become functional gods.
When something governs your emotions, decisions, or self-worth, it owns access.
10. Rituals Is Not Enough
A prayer and religious duties without detachment can become spiritual noise.
When the soul is tied to:
- Money
- Status
- Family expectations
- Career identity
The system still controls the experience.
Jesus didn’t say “pray about it.”
He said, “Let it go.”
Detox restores clarity.
Detachment restores dominion.
11. Teaching the Next Generation
Don’t expose children only to luxury.
Expose them to ideas, discipline, and thinking.
They see the cars and houses
but not the discipline, restraint, and obedience behind success.
Conformity chases what’s visible.
Transformation builds what’s invisible.
The invisible always produces the visible.
Closing Reflection
Systems don’t enslave people physically first.
They enslave the will. The question is not:
What do you have? The real question is:
What has you?
Dominion begins when the will is aligned with God and permission is reclaimed.
