Spiritual Awareness, Discernment, and Living Spirit Conscious as a Spirit Being

Spiritual Awareness, Discernment, and Living Spirit Conscious as a Spirit Being

Many people live only through the natural senses. They judge everything by what they can see, hear, touch, taste, and feel. But Scripture teaches that there is another dimension of life the spiritual realm.

If you desire to go deeper into spiritual things, you must learn how to shift gears from the natural to the spiritual.

This does not mean becoming strange, spooky, or disconnected from reality. It means learning to live from a higher awareness where God’s truth, presence, wisdom, and spiritual laws become more real to you.

Faith Does Not Operate Through the Senses

Faith is not limited to natural evidence. Faith reaches beyond the five senses and responds to the unseen reality of God.

II Corinthians 5:7

“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”

Hebrews 11:1

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”

Romans 10:17

“So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”

Faith is how the believer connects with spiritual reality.

Spirit, Soul, and Body

A Foundational Truth

Understanding the threefold nature of man is an important spiritual foundation.

I Thessalonians 5:23

“May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless…”

You are more than a body.
You are more than emotions.
You are more than thoughts.

You are a spirit being, possessing a soul, and living in a body.
    •    Spirit – the deepest part of you that relates to God
    •    Soul – mind, will, imagination, intellect, emotions, personality/intermediary/SeatOfChoice/
    •    Body – your physical house that functions in the earth

When you understand this, you begin to grow in spiritual consciousness.

Becoming More Spirit Conscious

Becoming more conscious that you are a spirit will help you become more spirit conscious.

This means you stop letting only outward conditions define your inner reality.

Romans 8:6

“To be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.”

Colossians 3:2

“Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.”

The more your mind is trained toward spiritual truth, the more the culture of heaven becomes real to you.

Walking in the Fruit of the Spirit

One of the clearest ways to grow spiritually is not by trying to look mystical, but by developing spiritual character.

Galatians 5:22-23

“The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…”

When these qualities increase in your life, you are learning how to walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:25

“If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.”

What You Abide In Enters the Heart

What you think on consistently shapes your inner life.

John 15:7

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

Whatever you continually abide in begins to enter your heart.

Proverbs 23:7

“As he thinks in his heart, so is he…”

Luke 6:45

“Out of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaks.”

Your inner meditation becomes your inward reality.

Five Principles to Become More Spirit Conscious

1. See Yourself as a Spirit Being

Stop identifying only with your body or emotions. Recognize your deepest identity is spiritual.

John 4:24

“God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

2. Renew Your Mind Daily

Train your thinking to align with truth, not only circumstances.

Romans 12:2

“Be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”

A renewed mind helps you perceive spiritually.

3. Walk in the Fruit of the Spirit

Love, peace, patience, and self-control sharpen spiritual sensitivity.

Galatians 5:22-23

“The fruit of the Spirit is…”

Character creates clarity.

4. Practice Private Prayer and Tongues

Private prayer builds your inner man and strengthens spiritual awareness.

I Corinthians 14:2

“He who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God…”

I Corinthians 14:4

“He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself…”

Jude 20

“Building yourselves up on your most holy faith, praying in the Holy Spirit…”

Time with God develops inward strength.

5. Learn to Shift From Natural to Spiritual

When pressure comes, do not stay trapped in the natural realm. Shift your attention to God’s presence, promises, and perspective.

II Kings 6:17

“Lord, I pray, open his eyes that he may see.”

There are realities present that natural sight cannot detect.

Seeing and Knowing in the Spirit

There is a kind of seeing that is deeper than eyesight and a kind of knowing that is deeper than intellect.

Ephesians 1:17-18

“That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ… may give to you the spirit of wisdom and revelation… the eyes of your understanding being enlightened…”

God can open inner perception.

I Corinthians 2:14

“The natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God…”

Spiritual things are spiritually discerned.

Final Thought

Becoming more spiritual does not mean acting spooky.

It means becoming aware of who you are in God.
It means setting your mind on spiritual truth.
It means walking in love and peace.
It means learning to hear, discern, and respond to God.

You are a spirit being, possessing a soul, and living in a body.

As you grow inwardly, the unseen realm becomes clearer, and the life of God becomes more real to you
