Seeing God in People
One of the greatest spiritual disciplines is learning to see beyond a person’s faults and recognize the value God placed inside them. Faults are real, and they matter but they are for discernment, not always for final judgment. We do not ignore behavior, patterns, or warning signs. We simply refuse to let brokenness blind us from the possibility of redemption.
When we only focus on flaws, our thoughts can become cynical, hard, and unfruitful. But when we learn to see people through the lens of God’s purpose, compassion begins to grow.
Love Learns to See Differently
“Love… believes all things, hopes all things…”

Love does not mean naivety. It means choosing not to reduce people to their worst moment. It means believing God can still work in lives that look messy right now.
God Saw More in Moses
Moses had fear, excuses, and a complicated past. Yet God still called him and sent him to confront Pharaoh.
“See, I have made you as God to Pharaoh…”
Exodus 7:1 NKJV
God was saying, “I am sending My authority, My image, and My purpose through you.” God saw greatness in Moses before Moses saw it in himself.
A Story from Ministry
Years ago, while ministering in a difficult area, I often encountered people many others avoided those carrying pain, addiction, street life, and deep shame. Some came in with heavy stories, rough language, and lives marked by broken choices.
At first, it took growth to get beyond the smell, the chaos, and the surface issues. But when the love of God was shared with them, many would begin to weep. Why? Because instead of only being reminded of their sin, they were reminded that God still loved them and had not given up on them.
Sometimes it takes more power and anointing to love people without judgment than it does to preach at them.
One More Story
A young man once came around church angry, guarded, and disrespectful. Many only saw attitude. But one older believer kept greeting him kindly every week. No long sermons, just consistency, respect, and love. Months later, that same young man opened up about the pain he had been carrying from childhood. What looked like rebellion was really hurt asking for healing.
When someone saw beyond the surface, the door to change opened.

Jesus did not just expose darkness He brought healing, freedom, and restoration.
Final Thought
Some people you may never deeply connect with, and that is okay. Not every path becomes a close relationship. But you can still pray for them, honor their humanity, and ask God to send the right person into their life.
You begin to recognize greatness in others when you truly believe people are created in the image of God.
Prayer
Father, help us see people the way You see them. Give us discernment without bitterness, wisdom without pride, and compassion without compromise. Teach us to look beyond the surface and recognize the value You placed in every person. Use us to bring healing, hope, and truth wherever we go. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
