Jesus Changes Your Nature.
2 Corinthians 5:17 (NKJV)
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.”
🔥 Powerful breakdown "In Christ"
- “If anyone is in Christ” This speaks of union. Not religion. Relationship.
- “New creation” Not repaired. Not remodeled. Re-created.
- “Old things have passed away” The old nature, old identity, old spiritual status.
- “All things have become new” New nature. New standing. New spiritual life (Zoe).
I once spoke with a young man who admired the teachings of Buddha and the teachings of Jesus.
He was sincere. He was searching.
And I understood him.
Many belief systems contain wisdom.
Many leaders taught discipline.
Many philosophies promote morality.
But morality is not regeneration.
And information is not transformation.
The Difference Between Information and Nature
Information informs your mind.
It can:
- Improve behavior
- Adjust thinking
- Influence decisions
- Refine conduct
But it cannot alter your spiritual composition.
It cannot remove sin.
It cannot reconcile you to God.
It cannot defeat death.
It cannot recreate your spirit.
Jesus did not come to give better advice.
He came to give new life.
You Must Be Born Again
John 3:3 (NKJV)
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.”
And then:
John 3:5 (NKJV)
“Most assuredly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit, he cannot enter the kingdom of God.”
Without new birth:
You cannot see it.
You cannot enter it.
You may discuss it.
You may debate it.
You may admire it.
But you cannot access it.
Because flesh gives birth to flesh.
Spirit gives birth to spirit.
You cannot educate flesh into spirit.
You must be born again.
Understanding “Life” in the Greek
Now let’s go deeper.
In English, we use one word - life.
But the Greek reveals layers.
1️⃣
Bios (βίος)
Physical Life
This refers to:
- Duration of life
- Lifespan
- Material existence
A man may live 70–80 years. That’s bios.
Religion can help someone manage bios.
It cannot redeem it.
2️⃣
Psuche (ψυχή)
Soul Life
This refers to:
- Intellect
- Personality
- Emotions
- Individual identity
Many philosophies operate at this level.
They can:
- Refine thinking
- Strengthen discipline
- Calm emotions
But psuche is still human life.
It is not divine life.
3️⃣
Anastrophē (ἀναστροφή)
Manner of Life
This is powerful.
Anastrophē means:
- Conduct
- Lifestyle
- Behavior
- Pattern of living
1 Peter 1:15 (NKJV)
“Be holy in all your conduct.”
That word “conduct” is anastrophē.
This is your daily behavior.
Your walk.
Your speech.
Your lifestyle.
Now watch this:
Information can change anastrophē temporarily.
But only new birth changes nature permanently.
You can imitate conduct.
You cannot manufacture regeneration.
4️⃣
Zoe (ζωή)
Divine Life
This is the highest quality of life.
Zoe is:
- Eternal life
- God’s own life
- Resurrection life
- Divine substance
Jesus came to give Zoe.
Not better bios.
Not refined psuche.
Not adjusted anastrophē.
But new life.
Why the Lamb Was Necessary
Sin is not just poor behavior (anastrophē).
Sin corrupted human nature.
John 1:29 (NKJV)
“Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!”
Jesus did not come to manage sin.
He came to remove it.
John 3:18 (NKJV)
“He who believes in Him is not condemned…”
The condition of separation already exists.
Jesus resolved it through:
- Death - penalty paid
- Burial - mortality entered
- Resurrection - death defeated
- Ascension - authority restored
That resurrection released Zoe.
Salvation Is Simple
Salvation is not behavior improvement.
It is nature transformation.
Ephesians 2:8–9 (NKJV)
“For by grace you have been saved through faith… not of works…”
Jesus is responsible for the work.
We are responsible to believe and receive it.
Faith is not effort.
Faith is trust.
You are not asked to fix yourself.
You are asked to receive new life.
Nature First. Conduct Follows.
Here is the proper order:
Zoe changes your nature.
New nature influences psuche.
Renewed psuche transforms anastrophē.
You don’t clean up your conduct to be saved.
You are saved - and your conduct begins to change..
That’s why Jesus said:
You cannot see it.
You cannot enter it.
Unless you are born again.
Final Revelation
You can improve bios.
You can refine psuche.
You can imitate anastrophē.
But unless you receive Zoe, your nature remains unchanged.
Information improves behavior.
Jesus changes your nature.
And when you believe in Him
You are not just informed.
You are transformed.
You are made alive.
That is being born again.
That is eternal life.
That is the difference between a teacher and the Lamb of God.
