God Is Eternal Rest: You Don’t Have to Have It All Together
One of the most freeing realizations a believer can ever have is this:
No one has it all together.
Not the loudest worshipper.
Not the strongest leader.
Not the person who seems like they’ve “arrived.”
Not even the ones who look the most consistent.
And once you accept that truth with humility, something breaks off your life: pressure.
Because the Gospel was never designed to create performers it was designed to create sons and daughters who walk with God in relationship.
God Isn’t Stress… God Is Rest
So many people want God, but they approach Him like a stressful class they’re trying to pass.
They keep thinking:
- “I need to get it right first.”
- “I need to be stronger first.”
- “I need to stop struggling first.”
But God is not panic.
God is not anxiety.
God is rest.
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
(Matthew 11:28, NKJV)
Rest doesn’t mean you never grow.
Rest means you stop trying to grow without Him.
The greatest deception is thinking spiritual growth means pressure and guilt.
But true spiritual growth looks like this:
Stay close. Stay open. Stay hungry. Keep walking.
You Will Be Learning God Forever
Sometimes we put “perfection” in a place God never intended it to be.
We stress over becoming a flawless believer, forgetting that we are stepping into an eternal relationship with an eternal God.
Even when we get to Heaven, we will still be discovering more of His glory, His wisdom, His love, and His depth.
“That in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.”
(Ephesians 2:7, NKJV)
That means your journey in God is not a short sprint…
It’s an eternal unfolding.
So stop living like you’re behind.
You’re not behind.
You’re becoming.
God Sees You Through Christ, Not Through Shame
One of the biggest battles believers face isn’t the devil…
It’s their own view of themselves.
Many believers wake up every day feeling:
- guilty
- defeated
- ashamed
- frustrated
- unworthy
But the truth is, when God looks at you, He doesn’t see what you used to be.
He doesn’t even see you the way you see you.
He sees you through Christ.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus…”
(Romans 8:1, NKJV)
Condemnation is not conviction.
Conviction says: “Come closer, let’s fix this.”
Condemnation says: “Stay back, you’re not worthy.”
God doesn’t build with condemnation.
He builds with love, truth, and patience.
A Small Story: The Day I Almost Quit
I remember a season when I was trying to grow and lead at the same time.
I was praying.
I was working.
I was trying to keep my attitude right.
Trying to stay faithful.
Trying to stay consistent.
But deep down I kept thinking:
“Why am I still struggling with certain thoughts?”
“Why do I still have weak areas?”
“Why does it feel like I should be further along?”
One day, I was just sitting there quiet and I felt the Lord deal with me in a simple way:
“Stop acting like you’re the one holding yourself together.”
It hit me hard.
Because I realized I had turned my walk with God into a performance.
I was trying to earn peace, instead of receiving peace.
And that day, I didn’t suddenly become perfect…
But I became lighter.
I stopped magnifying my weakness.
And I started magnifying His strength.
Weakness Isn’t Your Identity, It’s Your Invitation
Your weak areas are not proof God is finished with you…
They are proof God is still working in you.
And sometimes, the very areas you hate are the areas God plans to fill with His power.
“And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’”
(2 Corinthians 12:9, NKJV)
Notice what the verse does not say:
It doesn’t say God’s strength is made perfect in your perfection.
It says His strength is made perfect in your weakness.
But that doesn’t mean you celebrate flaws.
It means you stop being ashamed of the process.
We Don’t Magnify Imperfections, We Transform Them
It’s healthy to be honest about where you are…
But it’s dangerous to keep rehearsing what’s wrong with you.
God never called you to magnify your imperfections.
He called you to transform through His Word.
“And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind…”
(Romans 12:2, NKJV)
The Word renews your mind.
The Word resets your identity.
The Word reshapes your desires.
The Word heals what life damaged.
The Word strengthens what weakness exposed.
You may not change overnight…
But you will change over time.
Because the Word doesn’t just visit you…
It lives in you.
Stop Trying to Arrive-Start Enjoying Intimacy
You weren’t saved so you could become a religious robot.
You were saved so you could walk with God.
So don’t stress over arriving at a perfect state.
Get excited about intimacy.
Get excited about learning.
Get excited about growing.
Because the greatest part of the Christian life is not “having it all together”…
It’s knowing the One who holds you together.
And even when you’re not strong…
He is.
Even when you fall short…
He is faithful.
Even when you don’t feel worthy…
He still calls you His.
You are not rejected.
You are not failing.
You are becoming.
And God is not finished with you yet.
