Existing Outside of Yourself
Learn who you are so you can have something meaningful to give away..
There comes a point in life when growth is no longer about accumulation it’s about contribution. When you understand who you are, you stop living to prove something and start living to pour something out.
I am very blessed as a man.
First and foremost, my relationship with God is evolving every day. That is my number one desire. Everything else in my life flows from that connection. Without it, nothing I have would hold meaning.
I pastor the most incredible church on the planet. I am married to the most beautiful wife, whom I truly love. We have been together for 21 years, and together we have four beautiful children. These are not accomplishments to me they are assignments I steward with gratitude.
Life has not been perfect. I have been through a lot. I’ve experienced pressure, disappointment, and seasons of deep testing. But I can honestly say this: I am happy, and I am fulfilled. At this stage of my life, I no longer feel the need to force doors open. I’m not chasing validation. I’m not striving to be seen.
I am learning how to exist outside of myself.
When you reach this place, you realize something powerful you now have something to give. Wisdom. Love. Resources. Guidance. Connections. Perspective. Peace. These things cannot be given away prematurely. They are formed over time, through relationship, surrender, and obedience.
This is why identity matters.
You are a gift from God. You were never created to live only for yourself. There is something inside of you that others need and they are waiting for it, whether they know it or not. But the gift must first be recognized by you.
Before asking, “What can I receive?” we must ask,
“What do I have to give that could change someone’s life?”
The meaning of life is not found in success, money, or even purpose alone it is found in staying connected to God, the source of your identity. When you remain connected to Him, He reveals when to give, what to give, and who to give it to.
When the time is right, you will know.
I manage several businesses. I lead people. I make decisions that affect others. But none of that defines me. What defines me is alignment being rooted in God, secure in identity, and available to serve beyond myself.
When you live this way, giving no longer drains you it fulfills you.
Because you are no longer pouring from emptiness.
You are pouring from overflow.
Father God,
Thank You for revealing who we are in You. Help us stay connected to You as the source of our identity.
Show us what we have to give, and who to give it to. Let our lives be a blessing beyond ourselves.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.
