The Process is necessary "Don't Skip It"
It takes a lifetime to grow, but it takes eternity to truly get to know God. What He’s building in you can’t be microwaved. Real maturity isn’t fast it’s formed. The deeper God is taking you, the more time it requires to develop the character to carry it.
Philippians 1:6 (NKJV)
“Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.”
God finishes what He starts. But we have to stop judging our growth by speed, and start judging it by fruit.
Pride is the Enemy of Growth
One of the biggest enemies to spiritual and practical growth is pride. Pride makes you think you’re already “there.” Pride makes correction feel like disrespect. Pride convinces you that you are better than everyone else.
And the truth is people can recognize pride easier than we think. It shows up in our tone, our need to be right, our defensiveness, and our inability to receive wisdom.
But pride doesn’t just affect how you treat people… it affects what God can build in you.
Proverbs 16:18 (NKJV)
“Pride goes before destruction,
And a haughty spirit before a fall.”
Pride doesn’t just make you look strong it makes you unstable.
A Story: The Hidden Work Before the Mountain
There is a law in life: the private work always shows up in public.
Think about David. Before he ever stood on the mountain in victory, he lived in hidden places of preparation. While others were chasing attention, David was learning faithfulness. While others were trying to be seen, he was being shaped.
David didn’t become bold against Goliath overnight. He didn’t become confident in front of crowds without first being consistent in the secret place. His anointing was built when nobody was watching.
And the same is true for us: what we ignore in private will eventually be exposed in public. But what we surrender in private will eventually be rewarded in public.
Luke 16:10 (NKJV)
“He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much…”
You don’t get promoted by claiming greatness.
You get promoted by being faithful while still being small.
You Can’t Escape Spiritual Laws
No matter how much we try to hide, pretend, or perform spiritual laws don’t bend for anyone. Who you really are on the inside will eventually be revealed on the mountaintop.
Not because God is trying to embarrass you, but because elevation exposes what was already there. Pressure doesn’t create what’s inside you… it reveals it.
Galatians 6:7 (NKJV)
“Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.”
Your inner life is producing something whether you realize it or not. The goal is not just to look strong, but to become whole.
Seven Things the Lord Hates (Proverbs 6:16–19)
Proverbs 6:16–19 (NKJV)
“These six things the Lord hates,
Yes, seven are an abomination to Him:”
1. A proud look
2. A lying tongue
3. Hands that shed innocent blood
4. A heart that devises wicked plans
5. Feet that are swift in running to evil
6. A false witness who speaks lies
7. One who sows discord among brethren
These are warnings from God because they destroy people from the inside out. Pride, deception, violence, and division will always block the growth God is trying to produce.
Small Prayer
Father God, thank You for being patient with us while You grow us. Teach us not to rush what You are building. Remove pride from our hearts and give us a spirit of humility, obedience, and wisdom. Help our private life match our public calling, and let our character honor You at every level. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
