DOMINION ON EARTH

DOMINION ON EARTH

Correct the Patterns So You Can Evolve

Genesis 1:26 — “And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion…”

From the beginning, God created humanity with dominion, responsibility, authority, and the ability to steward life on the earth.

And the New Testament carries this principle forward:

Romans 5:17 — “…they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.”

We were created for dominion, and through Christ we are called to reign in life.

But reigning in life doesn’t mean controlling everybody around you. One of the first places we must exercise dominion is over ourselves.

When your thinking is correct, you give yourself permission to succeed. When your thinking is incorrect, you can have opportunity in front of you and still sabotage what God has placed within your reach.

Wrong thinking creates limitations that God never created.

You can pray for increase while thinking scarcity.
You can pray for opportunity while thinking fear.
You can pray for relationships while thinking isolation.
You can pray for success while believing success is somehow wrong.
You can pray for a new season while continuing to think according to an old one.

Proverbs 23:7 — “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he…”

Dominion isn’t sitting around waiting for God to do everything.

Dominion is accepting responsibility for what God has placed within your sphere of influence.

Your thinking affects your decisions.
Your decisions affect your behavior.
Your behavior produces consequences.
And those consequences rarely affect only you.

STORY ONE — WHEN EMOTIONS TAKE DOMINION

Consider a single mother raising three children.

She becomes frustrated at work. Maybe some of her frustration is legitimate. Maybe she feels disrespected, overlooked, exhausted, or mistreated.

But instead of managing the situation with wisdom, she allows her emotions to take control. She goes into her department, curses people out, and eventually finds herself without a job.

Now the consequence doesn’t stop with her.

Three children are affected by one moment of uncontrolled emotion.

The issue isn’t whether she had a right to be upset.

The deeper question is:

Did she exercise dominion over her emotions, or did her emotions exercise dominion over her?

You can be right about what happened to you and still respond to it incorrectly.

Proverbs 16:32 teaches that the person who rules his own spirit is greater than someone who conquers a city.

Before trying to conquer the world around you, learn how to govern the world within you.

STORY TWO — BLIND SPOTS IN RELATIONSHIPS

Imagine someone who experiences the same problem in relationship after relationship.

Every friendship eventually falls apart.

Every working relationship becomes difficult.

Every disagreement becomes personal.

Every correction feels like disrespect.

And every time something goes wrong, the conclusion is:

“Everybody else is the problem.”

Eventually you have to ask:

What if there is a pattern I cannot see?

That’s a blind spot.

And we all have blind spots.

You can change jobs and carry the same pattern.

You can change churches and carry the same pattern.

You can change friendships and carry the same pattern.

You can even change spouses and discover that changing people didn’t automatically change you.

A new environment doesn’t automatically produce a new life when you bring the same uncorrected patterns into it.

This is why humility is so important.

Sometimes God uses relationships, leadership, correction, conflict, and uncomfortable conversations to reveal something about us that we could not see by ourselves.

Psalm 139:23–24 — “Search me, O God, and know my heart…”

Maturity says:

“Before I determine what everybody else needs to change, Lord, show me what needs to change in me.”

CORRECT THE PATTERN SO YOU CAN EVOLVE

Growth isn’t pretending you’ve never made mistakes.

Growth is developing enough awareness to recognize the pattern, correct it, and stop repeating it.

Maybe your pattern is anger.

Maybe it’s impulsive decision-making.

Maybe it’s spending.

Maybe it’s choosing unhealthy relationships.

Maybe it’s refusing correction.

Maybe it’s blaming others.

Maybe it’s quitting whenever you become uncomfortable.

Maybe it’s allowing temporary emotions to make permanent decisions.

You cannot evolve beyond a pattern you refuse to acknowledge.

This is where dominion begins.

Not with controlling other people.

Not with controlling every circumstance.

But with learning, through God’s wisdom, to govern your thinking, your emotions, your decisions, your words, and your responses.

Sometimes the next breakthrough isn’t about receiving more power.

It’s about correcting the patterns that keep misusing the power, opportunity, relationships, and responsibility you already have.

You were created for dominion.

You were called to reign in life.

Correct the pattern. Change the thinking. Exercise dominion. Evolve.
