Beyond the Veil, Forbidden Spirituality, and the Search for Hidden Power
Humanity has always been fascinated with what exists beyond the material world.
Deep inside people is a desire to know:
• what exists beyond death
• what exists beyond the visible world
• whether higher intelligence exists
• whether hidden power can be accessed
• whether spiritual dimensions can be entered
This hunger is ancient.
Throughout history many people have pursued forbidden spiritual practices searching for:
• power
• enlightenment
• hidden wisdom
• spiritual encounters
• supernatural experiences
• secret knowledge
Some people have claimed encounters with spiritual entities, spirit guides, watchers, or dark unseen intelligences after becoming deeply involved in occult practices.
Others have testified to experiences involving:
• rituals
• blood practices
• divination
• necromancy
• spirit communication
• tarot cards
• ouija boards
• sorcery
• astral practices
The Bible repeatedly warns humanity that not every spiritual door leads to God.
Scripture teaches there are unseen realms, spiritual powers, and invisible influences operating beyond ordinary human perception.
Paul writes:
“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age.”
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
The danger is that many people seek spiritual experiences without understanding what they are opening themselves to.
Darkness rarely presents itself as darkness in the beginning.
Often it appears as:
• enlightenment
• empowerment
• hidden truth
• spiritual awakening
• secret wisdom
• higher consciousness
But Scripture warns:
“And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angel of light.”
2 Corinthians 11:14 NKJV
Many people enter spiritual practices believing they are harmless entertainment or harmless curiosity.
But the Bible consistently warns against:
• witchcraft
• necromancy
• divination
• consulting familiar spirits
• sorcery
Deuteronomy says:
“There shall not be found among you anyone who practices witchcraft, or a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer.”
Deuteronomy 18:10 NKJV
Why would Scripture warn so strongly about these practices if there were no spiritual danger connected to them?
The issue is not that spiritual realities are fake.
The issue is that humanity was never meant to access eternity outside of God’s authority.
Jesus said:
“I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved.”
John 10:9 NKJV
This is powerful because Christ presents Himself as the legitimate entrance into eternal reality.
The legal door.
Many spiritual systems promise:
• hidden power
• enlightenment
• transcendence
• secret wisdom
But Scripture teaches that Jesus Christ is the only safe mediator between:
• God and humanity
• eternity and time
• heaven and earth
Paul writes:
“For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus.”
1 Timothy 2:5 NKJV
Humanity cannot safely navigate eternal realities apart from God because the unseen world is far older, deeper, and more intelligent than the human mind fully understands.
The Bible reveals that rebellion already existed before humanity fell.
Jesus said:
“I saw Satan fall like lightning from heaven.”
Luke 10:18 NKJV
Meaning evil did not originate on earth.
It invaded earth.
This is why humanity cannot outsmart darkness through intellect alone.
People may gain:
• information
• mystical experiences
• altered consciousness
• spiritual encounters
But without Christ there is no true protection, discernment, or redemption.
Hebrews says Jesus entered:
“once for all into the Holy Place… having obtained eternal redemption.”
Hebrews 9:12 NKJV
Christ did not merely come to inspire humanity.
He came to lawfully reconnect fallen humanity back to God and become the only true bridge between mankind and eternity itself.
The deeper we study Scripture, the more we realize the Bible is not denying the existence of spiritual realities.
It is warning humanity to approach eternity through the only One qualified to safely lead us through it:
Jesus Christ.
